Mark and Barbara Tucker

Tell us a little about yourself:

Although we are native Nashvillians, we met in New York City in 1965.  We married in 1968 and followed Mark’s career as university librarian at Freed-Hardeman, Wabash College, Purdue University, and Abilene Christian.  Our twenty-four years at Purdue made us Boilermakers for life.  Barbara worked in home mortgage lending and, later, in an orthodontic office as treatment coordinator.

What most excites you about Well House Church?

We appreciate deeply the welcoming spirit, acceptance, and grace that characterize Well House.  We take joy and delight in working together, seeking opportunities to serve our neighbors.  We are passionate about helping believers discover our spiritual gifts in order to serve God, one another, and our community more faithfully.  Our prayerful hope is that we look to Jesus above everything else, and that we participate together in becoming more like Him every day.

What hobbies/activities/events give you life?

Mocha, our miniature schnauzer/dachshund mix, keeps things lively at home.  We follow the Predators, Titans and NFL, the Boilermakers, and (forgiveness please!) Mark breathes Alabama football.  When we lived in Indiana, we attended thirty races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  We enjoy visiting the mountains, the beach, and presidential libraries.

Barbara—reading mysteries, gardening, and feathering our nest

Mark—reading biography and history, swimming

Favorite scripture/story from scripture:

Barbara—Philippians 4:4-7.  Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, Rejoice.  Let your gentleness be known to everyone.  The Lord is near.  Do not worry about anything . . .

Mark – Proverbs 3:5-6.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.
